The Relay For Life Youth Program has been an integral part of the Canadian Cancer Society’s youth engagement strategy since 2002. Relay For Life is a celebration of cancer survival, a tribute to loved ones who have fought it, and an event full of fun, friendship and fundraising to fight back against cancer.
Since 2002, 500+ schools across Canada have organized over 1400 Relay For Life events, raising over $30,000,000 that goes to help fund cancer research and support local programs and services. Each event is unique to the student committees that run it, but all run on the common grounds of school unity, enthusiasm and sticking it to cancer.
When it comes to school activities, Relay For Life is one of the best ways for students to gain leadership skills through organizing a fundraising event that engages their whole school.
Workshop Description for “True Colours”
Using a simple self-assessment tool, the True Colours workshop allows people to identify how their personalities are best represented from four common personal leadership styles. This is useful for helping to assess individuals’ environments and colleagues, with a goal of improving students’ abilities to work effectively together.
